Welcome to Memori. By using our app, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

1. About Memori

Memori is a journal and memory book app that lets you capture, organise, and share your favourite moments. Never miss a memory. The service is provided by Memori ("we", "us", "our").

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms on your behalf.

3. Your Account

• You can sign in using a magic link, Google OAuth, or Apple Sign-In
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
• You must provide accurate information when creating your account
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
• Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account

4. Your Content

You own your content. Journal entries, photos, voice recordings, and any other content you create in Memori remain your intellectual property.

By using Memori, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. We will never use your content for advertising, training AI models, or any purpose unrelated to delivering the Memori service.

5. Shared Journals

• When you invite someone to a journal, they can view all entries in that journal
• Journal owners can remove members and manage access at any time
• You are responsible for the content you post in shared journals
• Do not share content that infringes on others' rights or is unlawful

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose
• Upload content that is harmful, threatening, abusive, or violates the rights of others
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or data
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure
• Use automated tools to scrape or extract data from the service
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app

7. Voice Transcription

Memori offers a voice-to-text feature powered by OpenAI's Whisper API. When you use this feature:

• Your audio recording is sent to OpenAI for transcription
• The audio is processed in real time and is not stored by OpenAI or Memori
• Transcription results may not be 100% accurate. You can always edit the text

8. Memory Books

The Memory Book feature generates PDF documents from your entries. These are generated on our servers and delivered to your device. We do not retain copies of generated books after delivery.

9. Free Trial and Subscription

Memori offers a 14-day free trial to all new users. During the trial you have full access to all features. After the trial expires:

• Read-only access: You can browse existing entries but cannot create new ones, share journals, generate Memory Books, or use voice transcription
• Subscribe to continue: You can subscribe at any time to restore full access. Subscription pricing is displayed in the app
• Account closure: If you do not subscribe within 2 months of your trial expiring, your photos will be permanently deleted and your account will be disabled. Your data is yours. We will send advance warnings before any deletion occurs
• Recovery: Text entries may be retained in a soft-deleted state for a limited time, allowing potential recovery if you contact us or subscribe after account closure

Subscription purchases are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Renewal, cancellation, and refund policies are governed by the respective store's terms. You can manage your subscription at any time through your device's subscription settings.

10. Data and Privacy

Your privacy matters to us. Please review our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and protect your data. Key highlights:

• We use anonymised analytics (PostHog) solely to improve the app. No personal content is tracked
• We do not use advertising SDKs or build advertising profiles
• You can export all your data at any time
• You can delete your account and all associated data at any time

11. Notifications

With your permission, Memori may send local push notifications for:

• Daily journaling reminders (configurable time and days)
• Writing streak encouragement
• Trial expiry reminders (before your free trial ends)
• Data deletion warnings (before account closure due to inactivity)

You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings or the app's notification preferences.

12. Service Availability

We strive to keep Memori available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any loss resulting from service downtime.

13. Termination

• By you: You can delete your account at any time from the app. This permanently removes all your data.
• By us: We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where reasonably possible.
• By inactivity: Accounts with an expired trial and no subscription will be automatically disabled after 2 months. Photos are permanently deleted; text entries are soft-deleted. See Section 9 for full details.

14. Limitation of Liability

Memori is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• We are not responsible for data loss caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control
• Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (if any)

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

16. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
